Our brewery is unlike any other in the province which makes our beer completely unique. We are the only craft brewery in Nova Scotia that produces their own organic floor malt. Why does this matter? It means our beer is as fresh as possible while minimizing environmental impact. The difference truly is in the taste and we think you'll agree.
Thank you to Motioneer Productions Inc. for creating this great video on our background and operations.
Craft beer starts with grain, on a farm. Our grain fields are right next to Horton Ridge, fields which have been farmed organically for over 30 years. We purchase most of our grain from Jeremy Pletz, an organic farmer (Hidden Creek) in Saskatchewan.
Before grain can be used to make craft beer it must be malted. We use the age old floor malting process, a practice that is rare in malting today. You can view our organic malt floor as you enjoy your beer. Artisanal floor malting methods yield highly flavourful malts
Our craft beers are made from our own organic malts, making Horton Ridge Nova Scotia's only malt house brewery. Our beers showcase our barley, wheat, rye, buckwheat and oat floor malts. If you want to experience unique flavours, enjoy a pint or flight with us.
